Free Teaching Material From Disney

There are free activities, sorted by skill, theme, and by ages 2-5 on this Disney Educator site. Here's a sample pdf you can download that is an alphabet activity for five-year-olds. It combines the alphabet with singing about animals; we all like those multi-useful activities, don't we? Is multi-useful even a word? Well, if not, it should be!

Your U.S. Government has Freebies for You

Have you seen the U.S. government's free resource site called FREE? FREE stands for Free Resources for Educational Excellence. For those teaching science, there is a link to Planet Quest, brought to us by NASA/Caltech/JPL, which has features for all grade levels; games, movies, and more.
Those who teach social studies may like the great collection of primary documents. With Presidents Day coming up, you may want to look at the great Abraham Lincoln collection.
For Black History Month, you may be interested in We Shall Overcome, a great collection of materials about the civil right movement.
Please share my site with teachers of upper grades who might be interested to know about these free resources!

STARFALL for Reading

If you haven't seen Starfall, you are missing out on what I consider to be THE BEST free online reading practice site on the internet! I have used this with students from age three up to fifth grade.  Not only is there a wonderful sequence of activities from the alphabet up through various genres, there are free printables to download such as this one for writing about 100th day. This site can be used for center time, as a computer lab activity, or as a whole-group (with projector) lesson. The lessons are multi-sensory, and so entertaining, your class will beg to use them!

Freebies From Scholastic, TCR, and Evan-Moor

Here's a cute mitten-themed K-2 skip counting worksheet sample from Scholastic Printables . They are also offering 500 free bonus points if you sign up for their program.

Teacher Created Resources offers a free ebook every month. If you are looking for brainteasers to help your students' thinking skills, check out this link. This company is one of my favorites, because many of their materials can be purchased online, and printed instantly!

Over at the Evan-Moor website, you can download free January clip art, which includes a calendar template and a generic certificate of achievement. If you don't need it now, save it for the end of the year!

Be back soon with more great freebies!
